All of this has led to districts looking very different than they did just a few years ago – and becoming better places for locals and travellers alike. In others, it’s meant tackling problems like overtourism, inequality and air pollution. In some cases that’s meant overhauling street space: less driving, more walking, cycling and hanging out. City-dwellers have quit their corporate jobs to finally follow their joy, whether it’s opening that corner café or much-needed local LGBTQ+ bar, or just spending more time living slowly and spending more time (and money) in their local area.Īt the same time, local officials the world over have been re-establishing their neighbourhoods as places for people. But there’s also been a whole wave of new businesses opening, driven not just by increased footfall outside city centres, but also by the ‘great resignation’. It’s true that much-loved local shops, restaurants, bars and creative spaces have, sadly, shuttered for good. And in many of the world’s greatest cities, the result has been a full-blown neighbourhood renaissance. Although we haven’t been able to travel the world as freely as we once did, billions of us have been spending more time than ever closer to home. She took the title of Princess of Asturias. Leonor became heir on June 19th 2014 when her grandfather, Juan Carlos, abdicated and her father became King Felipe VI. She was joined by a younger sister, Sofia, in 2007. Leonor was styled as Infanta and became second in line to the throne. Her father referenced Spain’s succession laws when announcing her birth – a younger brother could have overtaken her and her path to the throne wasn’t guaranteed. Leonor y Todos los Santos was born on October 31st 2005 in Madrid, the first child of the then heir to the throne, Felipe, and his wife, Letizia. Princess Leonor will mark nine years as heir to the throne of Spain in 2023 as she begins a new chapter in her royal life. The Princess of Orange takes on engagements with her family in the Netherlands and has represented them at several high profile recent events including the reception ahead of the Coronation of King Charles III and the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan. ![]() However, she had to change her living accommodation after threats. She was born on December 7th 2003 in The Hague and christened Catharina-Amalia Beatrix Carmen Victoria in June 2004.
